FABRICS_discarded lightweight jersey strips
The laces are strips cut from a discarded cotton-polyester T-shirt. The percentage of polyester guarantees the resilience of the stretched strands but also ensures a firm skid resistance when embroidering the ‘beads’ by hand.
The aim was - and remains - to experiment with patina, in this case, of the yarn hoists. The jersey strands are wrapped using machine zigzag stitching with different lower and upper threads—varying tensions and rotating the strand while stitching creates the graphic effect.
