yarn jam

TECHNICS︎hand-governed machine-stitching + hand embroidery YARN ︎Royal R120/D2 C200 + obsolete DMC strands
FABRIC ︎discarded cotton bed sheet, dyed with a left-over pinch of black dye
A generous gift of discarded, partially decayed DMC yarn made working with such a lavish amount of embroidery thread possible. The strands are locally punched into the fabric, merging the yarn and the fabric while creating an alternately graphically defined and softly felted texture.
The colourful base is topped with a black fossil embroidered with hand-governed machine stitching.
Lastly, freehand embroidery was added to emphasise various shapes and textures in the composition.
